Remote Telecom Network Operations Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Telecom Network Operations Specialist to join their distributed team, supporting operations across Richards Bay and beyond. This role is pivotal in ensuring the continuous availability, performance, and security of our client's extensive telecommunications network. You will be responsible for monitoring network health, responding to incidents, and implementing proactive measures to maintain service integrity. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to a critical infrastructure function within a dynamic and technologically advanced company.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the telecommunications network infrastructure 24/ 7 using advanced Network Management Systems (NMS) and performance tools.
• Detect, diagnose, and resolve network incidents and outages promptly, escalating to relevant teams when necessary.
• Perform routine system checks, health assessments, and preventative maintenance tasks on network devices remotely.
• Implement approved configuration changes and software updates following strict change management procedures.
• Analyze network performance data to identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for optimization.
• Document all network events, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the incident management system.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in telecom network operations or a similar network support role.
• Proficiency in monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Zabbix, Nagios) and understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, BGP).
• Experience with network troubleshooting and fault isolation in complex, multi-vendor environments.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain focus in a remote setting.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams.
