About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Remote Telecoms Network Engineer to join their distributed team. This position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere within Gauteng (or beyond, with alignment to Soweto time zones), focusing on the design, implementation, and support of our client's evolving telecommunications network infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation and continuous improvement of network services, collaborating virtually with colleagues across different locations. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls, in a remote capacity.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and implement proactive solutions to ensure high availability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams using virtual collaboration tools to deliver network projects and support.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams and configuration guides.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 network support as needed.
  • Stay current with emerging telecoms technologies and best practices for remote network management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching technologies, and VPNs.
  • Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools and network security principles.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
