About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Remote Transport Planner to join their national logistics team, working entirely from home. This role is critical for optimizing delivery routes, scheduling fleet movements, and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods across the country. You will utilize advanced planning software and analytical skills to design optimal routes, manage driver schedules, and minimize transit times and fuel consumption. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting, with a strong understanding of transportation logistics.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and optimize transportation routes for a diverse fleet, considering factors like distance, delivery windows, and traffic.
• Schedule driver assignments and manage delivery schedules to maximize efficiency and on-time performance.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and routing software to create optimal plans.
• Monitor ongoing shipments, making adjustments as needed to address unforeseen issues like traffic or vehicle breakdowns.
• Analyze transportation data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings and service improvements.
• Collaborate with dispatchers and drivers to ensure smooth execution of transport plans.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Transport Planner , Route Planner, or in a similar logistics planning role.
• Proficiency with route optimization software and transportation management systems (TMS).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, crucial for remote work.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with drivers and internal teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively from a remote location.
• Knowledge of South African road networks and transport logistics is advantageous.
