About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Wind Turbine Technician Specialist to join their forward-thinking team, operating from a remote-first perspective. This role focuses on providing expert technical support, diagnostics, and remote monitoring for wind turbine operations across various sites, primarily supporting installations in and around Durban and across the country. You will leverage advanced technology and data analysis to troubleshoot complex issues, optimize performance, and ensure the safety and reliability of wind energy assets, all without the need for constant on-site presence. Key Responsibilities

• Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting for wind turbine operational issues using SCADA systems and diagnostic tools.
• Analyze performance data to identify potential faults, predict failures, and recommend proactive maintenance.
• Guide on-site technicians through complex repair procedures and maintenance tasks via remote communication.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures and technical documentation for remote support.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to resolve recurring technical challenges and improve turbine reliability.
• Monitor the health and performance of wind farms, ensuring optimal energy generation and uptime.

Requirements

• Technician qualification or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience working with wind turbines (e.g., Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE).
• Proficiency in analyzing wind turbine data and using remote monitoring and control systems (SCADA).
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical personnel remotely.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
