About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in Coastal Infrastructure to join their fully remote team. While based remotely, this role will contribute to projects that may include those in the East London area and along the Eastern Cape coastline. You will be responsible for the design, planning, and oversight of marine and coastal structures, including breakwaters, seawalls, jetties, and port facilities. This position demands a deep understanding of hydraulic principles, maritime engineering, and environmental considerations, offering a unique opportunity for a remote professional to lead significant coastal development projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptualization and detailed design of coastal protection structures, ports, and related marine infrastructure.
- Conduct wave and current analysis, sediment transport studies, and hydraulic modeling for coastal environments.
- Prepare comprehensive design reports, specifications, and tender documentation for marine projects.
- Provide expert technical consultation and project management support remotely to site teams and clients.
- Ensure designs comply with international maritime standards, environmental regulations, and local requirements.
- Oversee the review of construction methodologies and quality assurance for marine construction works.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Coastal or Maritime Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the design and management of coastal infrastructure projects .
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is essential.
- Advanced knowledge of coastal processes, hydrodynamics, and structural design for marine environments.
- Proficiency in specialized software such as Delft3D, Mike 21, or similar coastal modeling tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams in a remote setting.
