Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of commercial litigation cases from inception to resolution.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
• Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations.
• Advise clients on litigation risks, strategies, and potential outcomes.
• Supervise junior associates and legal support staff on case management.
• Develop and implement effective litigation strategies tailored to client objectives.
• Prepare witnesses for depositions and testimony.
• Analyze complex factual and legal issues to build strong cases.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients throughout the litigation process.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 7 years of experience specifically in commercial litigation.
• Demonstrated success in handling complex commercial disputes in South African courts.
• Strong understanding of civil procedure, evidence, and commercial law.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Superior written and oral advocacy skills.
• Proven ability to manage a caseload independently and efficiently in a remote setting.
• Experience in managing junior lawyers and paralegals.
• Tech-savvy with proficiency in legal research tools and virtual collaboration platforms.
• Must be adaptable, proactive, and possess a strong work ethic.
