Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for drone flight operations, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations (e.g., SACAA in South Africa).
• Plan and execute complex drone missions for diverse applications, including aerial surveying, inspection, security, and delivery.
• Conduct pre-flight planning, including risk assessments, airspace analysis, and weather monitoring.
• Provide remote operational support and oversight during active drone flights.
• Analyze flight data and generate comprehensive reports on mission performance, findings, and recommendations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UAV technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate effectively with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders to define mission objectives and ensure client satisfaction.
• Manage drone equipment inventory and maintenance schedules remotely.
• Train and mentor junior drone operators and operational staff as needed.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of drone operational efficiency and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, Geography, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in drone operations and management, with a strong emphasis on commercial or industrial applications.
• Certified Remote Pilot (e.g., SACAA RPAS License or equivalent) with a proven record of safe flight operations.
• In-depth understanding of airspace regulations, flight planning software, and drone telemetry.
• Experience with various types of drones and sensor payloads (e.g., LiDAR, multispectral cameras).
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deliver results independently.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
