Senior Electrical Engineer - Renewable Energy (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a specialization in Renewable Energy to join their fully remote team. This role will focus on the electrical design and integration of solar, wind, and battery storage projects across various locations, supporting their growing portfolio within Mpumalanga and beyond. You will be a key technical resource, responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of electrical systems in cutting-edge renewable energy installations. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and engineering for renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind farms, and BESS.
• Develop detailed electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, protection and control schemes , and equipment specifications.
• Perform technical due diligence and feasibility studies for potential renewable energy projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including project developers, EPC contractors, and grid operators.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., NRS, IEC).
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the remote team structure.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Power Systems or Renewables.
• Over 7 years of progressive experience in the design and engineering of renewable energy projects.
• Deep understanding of grid-tied systems, energy storage technologies, and power electronics .
• Proficiency with electrical design and simulation software relevant to renewables.
• Demonstrated experience in project lifecycle management for renewable energy installations.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills suited for a fully remote role.
