Senior Embedded Systems Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join their innovative product development team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to cutting-edge projects from anywhere in South Africa. You will be instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of embedded software and hardware solutions for next-generation devices. This role requires a deep understanding of microcontrollers, real-time operating systems, and hardware-software integration. Working within a collaborative and agile virtual environment, you will tackle complex challenges and drive the technological roadmap of our client's diverse product portfolio, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement across the remote team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and debug embedded software for various microcontroller platforms (ARM, PIC, etc.).
• Develop and maintain real-time operating systems (RTOS) for embedded applications.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system architecture and ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
• Implement communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN) and low-level drivers.
• Conduct thorough system testing and validation, including unit testing and integration testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in both hardware and software components in a remote setting.

Requirements

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in embedded systems development.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded environments.
• Experience with RTOS concepts and implementation.
• Familiarity with hardware debugging tools, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Proven ability to work effectively and deliver results in a fully remote capacity.
