About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their fully remote workforce, contributing to significant infrastructure and building projects across South Africa. This pivotal role involves providing expert analysis and design recommendations based on complex soil and rock mechanics investigations. You will collaborate with a distributed team of engineers and geologists, leveraging advanced software and remote communication tools to deliver high-quality geotechnical solutions. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a strong track record in managing challenging geotechnical projects and a proven ability to thrive in an independent, remote work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis and interpretation of geotechnical site investigation data, including borehole logs and laboratory test results.
- Provide expert advice on foundation design, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques for diverse projects.
- Develop detailed geotechnical design reports and specifications suitable for complex infrastructure.
- Oversee and review work from junior geotechnical engineers and technicians within the remote team.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international geotechnical standards and best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, structural engineers, and clients through virtual channels.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration is highly advantageous.
- Extensive experience with geotechnical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, FLAC, Geo5).
- Strong understanding of geological conditions and their impact on engineering structures.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for remote collaboration.
