Senior Grid Operations Engineer (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Grid Operations Engineer for a fully remote position, based remotely but supporting operations within the Centurion region and beyond. This role is essential for ensuring the stability, reliability, and efficiency of the power grid. You will be responsible for monitoring grid performance, analyzing operational data, and developing strategies to manage load, integrate renewable sources, and respond to disturbances. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the resilience of the national energy infrastructure from the comfort of your home office, working with a team dedicated to maintaining seamless power delivery across the country.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time grid operations, analyze performance data, and identify potential issues or anomalies.
• Develop and implement operational plans and procedures to ensure grid stability and reliability, especially during peak demand or extreme weather events.
• Participate in the planning and coordination of grid maintenance, upgrades, and new connection projects.
• Analyze the impact of renewable energy integration and develop strategies to manage intermittency and grid stability.
• Respond to and manage grid emergencies, disturbances, and load shedding events.
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies, utility partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a specialization in power systems.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in power system operations, grid planning, or related fields within the energy industry .
• Strong knowledge of power system fundamentals, grid operations, protection schemes, and SCADA systems.
• Experience with power flow analysis, short-circuit calculations, and transient stability studies.
• Familiarity with renewable energy integration challenges and solutions.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting .
