Senior Legal Advisor - Remote

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a dedicated and astute Senior Legal Advisor to join their fully remote legal department. This role is crucial for providing high-level legal counsel and strategic support to various departments, focusing on regulatory compliance, contract management, and risk mitigation. You will be instrumental in shaping legal strategies, advising on intricate legal challenges, and ensuring adherence to South African and international laws. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial agreements and regulatory filings.
• Provide expert legal interpretation and guidance on all matters pertaining to data privacy (POPIA), intellectual property, and employment law.
• Manage and coordinate legal aspects of corporate projects, including mergers and acquisitions , joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
• Conduct thorough legal research and due diligence, identifying potential risks and developing proactive mitigation strategies.
• Develop and implement compliance programs and training materials for employees across different departments.
• Liaise effectively with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies when required.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably within a corporate in-house setting or a leading law firm.
• Admitted Attorney of the High Court or equivalent legal qualification with active practicing rights.
• Proven expertise in corporate law, contract law, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
• Experience in managing large-scale transactional work and advising on corporate governance best practices.
• Exceptional remote work ethic, including strong self-management, communication, and collaboration skills across distributed teams.
