Senior Process Development Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Process Development Engineer to join their globally distributed team, working remotely to support operations across various sites including near Queenstown. This is a fully remote position where you will take the lead in developing and scaling up innovative chemical processes. You will be responsible for the entire development lifecycle, from initial concept and lab-scale work to pilot plant trials and supporting full-scale implementation. This role requires a self-motivated engineer who thrives in an independent environment and excels at collaborating virtually with diverse, international teams to drive process innovation and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of novel chemical processes, focusing on scalability and commercial viability.
• Conduct rigorous experimental studies, pilot plant trials, and data analysis to validate process designs.
• Develop comprehensive process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, and operating manuals.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams across different time zones to ensure successful process transfer.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to enhance process performance and sustainability.
• Ensure all process development activities adhere to stringent safety and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in chemical process development and scale-up.
• Proven expertise in process simulation, modeling, and experimental design (DoE).
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, separation technologies, and process safety.
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Superior communication and virtual collaboration skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
