Senior Process Engineer - Remote Oil & Gas Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer for a fully remote position, supporting their operations originating from Mossel Bay. This role involves the design, development, and optimization of processes for oil and gas production, refining, and treatment. You will leverage your expertise to solve complex technical challenges, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with stringent industry standards. The position requires a self-motivated individual who can collaborate effectively with geographically dispersed teams and contribute significantly to project success from a remote work environment, focusing on delivering innovative process solutions for the Oil & Gas industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead process design and simulation for new projects and facility modifications.
• Optimize existing process operations to enhance efficiency, yield, and safety.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP studies.
• Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams, troubleshooting complex process issues.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and process improvements.
• Ensure designs and operations comply with industry standards and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process engineering within the Oil & Gas or petrochemical industry.
• Proven experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
• In-depth knowledge of P&IDs, PFDs, and process safety management (PSM).
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage projects remotely.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
