About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Remote Sensing Specialist to join their geology and exploration division, working entirely remotely. This role will leverage satellite imagery, aerial photography, and other geospatial data to aid in geological mapping, target identification, and resource assessment across diverse terrains. You will be instrumental in integrating advanced geospatial techniques into our exploration workflows, providing critical insights without requiring physical presence at a specific office location. Key Responsibilities
- Process and analyze multi-spectral, hyperspectral, and radar satellite imagery for geological applications.
- Develop and implement algorithms for automated feature extraction, lithological mapping, and mineral prospectivity analysis.
- Integrate remote sensing data with other geological datasets (e.g., geophysical, geochemical, drillhole data) to create comprehensive exploration models.
- Develop and manage geospatial databases and workflows for large-scale remote sensing projects.
- Prepare detailed reports, maps, and presentations on findings and recommendations for the exploration team.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in remote sensing technologies and their applications in geology and mining.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, Geography, or a related field with a strong focus on remote sensing and GIS.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in geological remote sensing and image analysis.
- Expertise with remote sensing software packages (e.g., ENVI, ERDAS Imagine) and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data processing and automation.
- Strong understanding of geological principles and their expression in remote sensing data.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, suitable for a remote work environment.
