Senior Solar PV Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Solar PV Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. This role is integral to the design, development, and optimization of photovoltaic (PV) systems for a range of commercial and utility-scale projects. You will leverage your extensive technical expertise to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of our solar installations. Working from anywhere, you will collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and field technicians to deliver cutting-edge solar solutions. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of PV technology, system design, and performance analysis, driving innovation in the renewable energy space.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and engineering of solar PV systems, including performance modeling and component selection.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and array layouts.
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for potential solar projects.
• Perform energy yield assessments and financial analysis using industry-standard software.
• Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of PV projects.
• Stay current with advancements in PV technology, battery storage, and grid integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in solar PV system design and engineering.
• Proficiency in PV design software (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope) and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of South African electrical codes, standards, and grid interconnection requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to technical challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team environment.
