Senior Tax Accountant - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join their globally distributed finance team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for managing complex tax compliance, planning, and advisory tasks for the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of South African tax laws and regulations, coupled with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with remote colleagues. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and adept at navigating the intricacies of corporate taxation in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of all corporate tax returns, including income tax, VAT, and withholding taxes.

• Provide expert advice on tax implications of business transactions, mergers, and acquisitions.

• Conduct tax research and analysis to identify tax planning opportunities and mitigate risks.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation and reporting requirements.

• Liaise with tax authorities (SARS) and external tax advisors as needed.

• Support the finance department with transfer pricing documentation and compliance.

• Stay current with changes in tax laws and advise the business accordingly.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field; CA(SA) or CTA qualification is strongly preferred.

• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in corporate tax, with a strong emphasis on compliance and planning.

• Extensive knowledge of South African tax law , including corporate tax, VAT, and international tax principles.

• Proficiency in tax preparation software and advanced Excel skills for financial modeling.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work setting .
