Senior Transport Planner - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Transport Planner to join their logistics team remotely, supporting operations that may include Upington and surrounding regions. This leadership role involves developing and implementing advanced transportation strategies, optimizing network efficiency, and ensuring cost-effective movement of goods. You will mentor junior planners, leverage sophisticated planning tools, and collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of complex transportation plans , optimizing routes, schedules, and load consolidation.
• Mentor and guide junior transport planners, fostering skill development and adherence to best practices.
• Analyze transportation network performance, identifying opportunities for significant cost savings and service improvements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external carriers to ensure seamless execution of transport operations.
• Oversee the implementation and utilization of advanced route optimization software and transportation management systems (TMS).
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, safety standards, and contractual obligations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive experience in transport planning or logistics management, with a focus on strategic planning.
• Expert-level proficiency with sophisticated route planning software and TMS platforms.
• Deep understanding of logistics network design , transportation modes, and global supply chain dynamics.
• Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven leadership abilities and experience mentoring professional teams, preferably in a remote context.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
