Solar PV Design Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is actively recruiting a talented Solar PV Design Engineer for a fully remote position, supporting operations and project development from anywhere. You will leverage advanced design software and your technical expertise to create detailed system layouts, electrical schematics, and performance assessments. Key Responsibilities

• Design commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar PV systems using industry-standard software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope).
• Produce detailed electrical single-line diagrams, string sizing, and component selection.
• Perform energy production modeling and financial analysis for proposed PV systems.
• Develop system layouts, equipment specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to provide technical support during implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in designing solar PV systems.
• Proficiency with solar design and simulation software (PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD preferred).
• Strong understanding of PV module technologies, inverters, and mounting structures.
• Knowledge of South African electrical codes and grid interconnection standards.
• Excellent technical drawing, documentation, and communication skills, essential for a remote role.
