About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Remote Geotechnical Engineer to provide critical expertise for their mining operations, particularly focusing on projects in the Free State province. This role is essential for assessing and managing geotechnical risks associated with mine design, slope stability, and underground excavations. You will analyze geological and geomechanical data, conduct remote risk assessments, and provide recommendations to ensure the safety and stability of mining infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze geological and geomechanical data to assess slope stability and underground excavation design parameters.
• Develop geotechnical models and conduct numerical simulations to predict ground behavior.
• Provide remote technical guidance on foundation design, ground support systems, and excavation methods.
• Review and interpret site investigation data, including borehole logs and laboratory test results.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies for geotechnical hazards.
• Collaborate with mine design teams and operations personnel to ensure safe and efficient mine development.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering within the mining industry.
• Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and geological structures .
• Proficiency with geotechnical analysis and modeling software (e.g., FLAC, Rocscience Suite).
• Experience in remote data analysis and providing technical recommendations via digital platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
