About the Role
Our client is seeking a knowledgeable Remote Sustainable Agriculture Specialist to champion environmentally sound farming practices. This role is pivotal in developing and promoting methods that enhance ecological balance, conserve resources, and ensure the long‑term viability of agricultural systems, potentially impacting areas around Kimberley . You will conduct research, design sustainable farm strategies, and provide guidance to farmers and agricultural organizations, leveraging data and best practices. This position requires a deep commitment to sustainability and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, yet often remote, capacity, driving positive change in the Northern Cape .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sustainable agricultural practices, including organic farming, water conservation, and soil health improvement.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and methods that promote environmental sustainability in agriculture.
- Provide expert advice and training to farmers and agricultural stakeholders on sustainable techniques.
- Conduct assessments of farm operations to identify environmental risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop guidelines and best practice manuals for sustainable agriculture.
- Monitor and report on the environmental impact and effectiveness of implemented sustainable strategies.
Requirements
- Degree in Sustainable Agriculture, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, organic farming, or environmental resource management.
- Strong knowledge of ecological principles, soil science, water management, and biodiversity conservation.
- Experience in developing and implementing farm sustainability plans.
- Ability to conduct research and analyze data related to environmental impact.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and remote collaboration skills.
