Remote Senior Geotechnical Engineer - National Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their fully remote team, supporting projects across South Africa, with a particular focus on developments in and around Port Elizabeth. This role is critical for providing expert analysis and design recommendations for a diverse range of infrastructure and building projects, ensuring their stability and safety irrespective of physical location. You will leverage advanced geotechnical principles and cutting-edge software to solve complex ground engineering challenges, contributing significantly to projects from the comfort of your home office. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical analyses and design of foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks for various projects nationwide.
• Interpret subsurface investigation data, including soil and rock properties, to develop comprehensive geotechnical reports.
• Provide expert technical advice and support to project managers, clients, and site teams remotely.
• Develop and implement ground improvement strategies and slope stability solutions.
• Review and approve geotechnical designs prepared by junior engineers and external consultants.
• Ensure all geotechnical recommendations and designs comply with South African geotechnical standards and best practices, relevant to diverse project locations including the Eastern Cape.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong portfolio of diverse project experience.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Expertise in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, or similar advanced modeling tools.
• Proven ability to manage projects independently and deliver high-quality technical solutions remotely.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with distributed teams and clients across South Africa.
