About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Remote Agricultural Economist to provide critical economic analysis and strategic insights for their agricultural operations and clients. In this fully remote position, you will analyze market trends, forecast commodity prices, evaluate investment opportunities, and develop economic models to support decision-making in the agricultural sector. Your expertise will help shape business strategies, optimize resource allocation, and enhance the profitability of agricultural enterprises, with a particular focus on the Free State region's agricultural landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth economic analysis of agricultural markets, including supply and demand dynamics, price trends, and trade policies.
• Develop financial models and forecasts to assess the economic viability of agricultural projects and investments.
• Evaluate the impact of government policies, environmental factors, and technological advancements on the agricultural economy.
• Provide expert advice on risk management strategies and financial planning for agricultural businesses.
• Prepare comprehensive economic reports, presentations, and policy recommendations for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to identify economic challenges and opportunities.
• Stay updated on global and local agricultural economic developments and best practices.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in agricultural economics, financial analysis, or a related quantitative role.
• Strong analytical and modeling skills, with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Stata, EViews) and Excel.
• Deep understanding of agricultural markets, value chains, and economic principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex economic data clearly.
• Experience working with diverse datasets and formulating data-driven insights.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting.
