Remote Chief Mine Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Chief Mine Planner to join their global operations team, supporting initiatives around Soweto . This is a fully remote, strategic role responsible for overseeing all mine planning activities across the company's portfolio. You will develop long-term strategic plans, optimize mine designs, and ensure the efficient and safe extraction of resources. The position requires a deep understanding of mine planning software, economic evaluations, and regulatory compliance, combined with strong leadership skills to guide planning teams and influence strategic decisions from a remote location.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term strategic mine plans for open-pit and underground operations.
• Oversee mine design, production scheduling, and resource optimization processes.
• Conduct economic evaluations and feasibility studies for new and existing mining projects.
• Ensure mine plans comply with all regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
• Lead and mentor a team of mine planning engineers and geologists remotely.
• Collaborate with senior management, operations, and exploration teams to align planning with corporate objectives.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Over 15 years of progressive experience in mine planning and design.
• Expert proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software (e.g., MineSight, Deswik, Vulcan).
• Strong knowledge of mining economics, project finance, and risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, complex planning projects and teams remotely.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skills.
