Remote BIM Specialist - Architecture

About the Role

Our client, a progressive architectural practice operating entirely remotely, is seeking a highly skilled BIM Specialist to drive the adoption and implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) across all their projects. This critical role will ensure the efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration of our design and construction processes. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining BIM standards, workflows, and templates, as well as providing technical support and training to the design team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to significant architectural projects from the comfort of your home office, anywhere in South Africa. We are looking for an expert who is passionate about leveraging technology to enhance architectural delivery and improve project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage BIM standards, protocols, and workflows for architectural projects.
• Create and maintain BIM content libraries, families, and templates to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Lead the modeling process in Revit for complex architectural projects, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Conduct clash detection and model coordination, resolving issues in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Provide technical support, guidance, and training to architects and designers on BIM software and best practices.
• Manage and organize project BIM models and associated data.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in BIM technology and advocate for its effective use.
• Collaborate with external consultants and contractors to ensure seamless BIM integration.
• Contribute to project planning and execution from a BIM perspective.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in BIM coordination and architectural modeling, with a strong focus on Revit.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing BIM standards and workflows.
• In-depth knowledge of architectural design principles and construction processes.
• Proficiency in Navisworks for clash detection and coordination is essential.
• Experience with Dynamo scripting for automation is a significant advantage.
• Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving BIM-related issues.
• Membership in relevant professional bodies is a plus.
