Remote Mechanical Engineer - Systems Design

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Remote Mechanical Engineer to focus on systems design and contribute to innovative projects. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will play a pivotal role in the conceptualization, design, and validation of complex mechanical systems, collaborating with a distributed team of engineers and specialists. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong analytical mindset and a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, committed to delivering high-quality design solutions in a virtual environment. This role is essential for driving forward our client's product innovation pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems and components for various applications, utilizing advanced engineering principles.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) using industry-standard CAD software.
• Conduct comprehensive performance analysis , including stress, thermal, and vibration simulations, to ensure design integrity and efficiency.
• Collaborate effectively with remote team members, project managers, and external stakeholders through virtual communication tools.
• Participate in design reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to project timelines and technical specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues identified during testing or manufacturing phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Solid understanding of material selection, manufacturing processes , and component integration.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote work setting .
