Remote Aviation Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client, a prominent organization dedicated to enhancing aviation safety worldwide, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Aviation Safety Officer to join their global operations. This is a fully remote position, enabling you to contribute significantly to aviation safety from anywhere within South Africa . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing aviation safety management systems (SMS), conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of aviation regulations, safety principles, and risk management methodologies. This is a critical role for an individual committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety in the aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the organization's Aviation Safety Management System (SMS).
• Conduct safety risk assessments, hazard identification, and mitigation planning for aviation operations.
• Investigate aviation safety incidents and occurrences, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff.
• Monitor compliance with national and international aviation safety regulations and standards.
• Prepare regular safety reports for senior management and regulatory authorities.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, advocacy, and engagement.
• Maintain and update safety documentation, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and operational procedures.
• Stay abreast of emerging safety trends and best practices in the aviation industry.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Advanced certifications in Aviation Safety Management are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in aviation safety, safety management systems, or risk management within the aviation sector.
• In-depth knowledge of ICAO Annex 19, EASA, FAA, or SACAA regulations and safety standards.
• Proven experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and developing corrective actions.
• Strong understanding of safety risk management principles and methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, suitable for remote interaction.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in using safety management software and data analysis tools.
• Must be legally authorized to work remotely within South Africa .
