Remote PR and Communications Lead

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive global PR and communications strategy.
• Lead and manage all aspects of media relations, including pitching, press releases, and crisis communication.
• Oversee internal and external corporate communications to ensure consistent messaging and brand integrity.
• Build and nurture strong relationships with key media, industry analysts, and influencers across relevant sectors.
• Manage and grow the company's social media presence and online reputation.
• Collaborate with marketing, product, and executive leadership to align communication efforts with business objectives.
• Develop compelling brand stories and key messaging frameworks.
• Plan and execute virtual press conferences, media tours, and other communication events.
• Monitor industry trends, competitive activities, and media coverage to identify opportunities and risks.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a remote team of PR and communications professionals.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in PR and communications, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of success in developing and executing global PR strategies, especially for e-commerce or technology companies.
• Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Expertise in media relations, crisis communications, and reputation management.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Experience managing remote teams and working effectively in a distributed organization.
• Proficiency in PR software, media monitoring tools, and social media management platforms.
• Familiarity with the Benoni, Gauteng region is a plus but not required due to the remote nature of the role.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing digital landscape.
