Remote Corporate Compliance Officer

About the Role

Our client, a burgeoning international tech company, is seeking a dedicated and astute Remote Corporate Compliance Officer to establish and maintain its compliance framework. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be instrumental in ensuring the company adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. The role involves developing compliance policies, conducting risk assessments, implementing training programs, and managing regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate is meticulous, has a strong understanding of corporate governance, and excels in a self-directed, virtual work environment. This role is crucial for safeguarding the company's reputation and ensuring its operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's corporate compliance program.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees at all levels.
• Monitor and audit compliance activities across the organization.
• Investigate and resolve compliance issues and breaches.
• Prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports.
• Stay current with changes in relevant laws and regulations.
• Advise management on compliance matters and best practices.
• Manage relationships with regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Commerce, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate compliance, internal audit, or a related legal/regulatory role.
• Strong knowledge of South African corporate laws and regulatory frameworks.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing compliance programs.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to train diverse groups.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Proficiency in compliance management software and standard office applications.
• Experience in the tech industry is highly preferred.
