Build Your Career with Axiom Insurance

Axiom Insurance is a respected, family-owned insurance brokerage proudly servicing domestic, commercial and agricultural clients across regional Queensland.

We don't just offer jobs, we offer long-term careers. Our people are at the heart of what we do, and we actively invest in their development, progression and success.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Insurance Broker or Senior Broker Assistant to work closely with a Business Manager/Senior Client Manager at Axiom as their assistant and right-hand! It's a full time role, and you will be supporting the broker in the management of a well-established portfolio of primarily Farm and SME business clients.

This is not an entry-level support role. We are looking for someone who already has a strong understanding of insurance broking and can confidently manage day-to-day broking activities, communicate with clients and underwriters, and take ownership of their responsibilities.

The role would particularly suit someone who has supported a broker at a senior level, or an experienced Broker who enjoys broking but would prefer to work alongside a senior broker rather than manage their own portfolio.

You’ll gain exposure to all aspects of broking and work closely with an experienced senior leader within the business, while also being supported by a collaborative broking team and dedicated internal Claims Team.

To be successful in this role, you must hold a Tier 1 Insurance Broking qualification and have a minimum of 3-5 years' insurance broking experience.

Key Activities

  • Gather information from clients, assess their insurance needs and respond to client queries via email and phone
  • Process new business, renewals and endorsements, including remarketing
  • Prepare and check policy documentation
  • Prepare new business and renewal presentations for clients
  • Liaise directly with clients and underwriters
  • Assist with claims where required
  • Build and manage strong relationships with colleagues, clients and insurers
  • Support the Business Manager/Senior Client Manager with the overall management and growth of the portfolio
  • Take ownership of allocated work and ensure matters are followed through from start to finish

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is experienced, capable and proactive. You will need to be comfortable working independently, using your initiative and managing your own workload, while also enjoying being part of a close-knit broking team.

Key skills and experience include:

  • Minimum 3-5 years' broking experience, or experience providing high-level support to a Senior Broker
  • Tier 1 Insurance Broking qualification is essential
  • Farm/Agricultural Insurance experience is preferred and would be highly beneficial
  • Strong understanding of SME insurance products and the broking process
  • Experience completing policy and documentation processing yourself
  • High level of focus and strong attention to detail
  • Confident, clear and professional communication skills with clients, underwriters and team members
  • A proactive approach and the confidence to use your own initiative
  • Ability to prioritise work and make timely decisions
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment
  • Positive attitude and willingness to continue learning and developing
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with WinBEAT, SCTP and OfficeTech will be highly regarded

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive remuneration package
  • Flexible working arrangements: for the right candidate, this role can be fully work-from-home. Depending on your location, we can also facilitate an office-based or hybrid arrangement if preferred
  • Work closely with and be mentored by a senior leader within the business
  • Paid professional development courses and opportunities to attend industry events
  • Support from a dedicated internal Claims Team
  • Clearly defined career progression pathways
  • Access to over 170 years of combined in-house insurance industry experience
  • An office culture that works hard while still making time to have fun
  • Be part of a friendly, family-owned business that genuinely focuses on developing its staff
