About the Role
Our client, a world-renowned energy company operating in the challenging offshore Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a Remote Subsea Pipeline Engineer to join their global team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you the flexibility to work from your preferred location. The engineer will be responsible for the integrity management, flow assurance, and performance optimization of subsea pipeline systems. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of hydrocarbons from subsea production facilities to shore. You will collaborate closely with offshore operations, subsea integrity, and engineering departments, utilizing advanced analytical tools and methodologies.
This role is crucial for maintaining the operational continuity and asset life of complex subsea infrastructure, contributing significantly to our client's success in the global energy market.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement subsea pipeline integrity management plans, including inspection, monitoring, and maintenance strategies.
- Conduct flow assurance studies to predict and mitigate operational issues such as hydrate formation, wax deposition, and slugging.
- Perform stress analysis, upheaval buckling checks, and fatigue life assessments for subsea pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry codes, standards (e.g., DNV, API), and regulatory requirements for subsea pipelines.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including subsea engineers, operations personnel, and HSEQ specialists.
- Manage risks associated with subsea pipeline operations and develop mitigation plans.
- Support pipeline design, installation, commissioning, and decommissioning activities.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies for pipeline monitoring, maintenance, and integrity assurance.
- Prepare technical reports, analyses, and recommendations for management and project teams.
- Respond to operational challenges and provide technical support for pipeline-related issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in subsea pipeline engineering, with a strong focus on integrity management and flow assurance within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proven expertise in pipeline design, analysis software (e.g., OLGA, PIPESIM, ANSYS FEA), and integrity management principles.
- In-depth understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and multiphase flow phenomena.
- Familiarity with subsea pipeline materials, corrosion mechanisms, and protection methods.
- Experience with ROV survey data analysis and its application to integrity assessment.
- Excellent remote communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines effectively in a remote setting.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing subsea pipeline operations.
- Proficiency with relevant industry standards and best practices.
Benefits
This fully remote position offers a competitive salary and exceptional flexibility. You will be part of a leading global energy company, contributing to high-impact subsea projects. Our client fosters a culture of continuous learning and provides ample opportunities for professional development. This role is ideal for experienced subsea pipeline engineers seeking a remote career path and the chance to significantly influence the operational efficiency and safety of vital energy infrastructure, regardless of location such as near Paarl, Western Cape.
