About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and self-motivated Remote Mechanical Engineer to focus on Systems Design , operating from anywhere within South Africa. This pivotal role involves the end-to-end design and integration of complex mechanical systems, ensuring they meet cutting‑edge performance, safety, and efficiency standards. You will be a key contributor to innovative projects, collaborating virtually with a diverse, global team of engineers and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and simulation of complex mechanical systems and sub-systems for new product development.
- Perform advanced engineering analyses, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) , Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and multi-body dynamics, to optimize system performance.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models , manufacturing drawings, and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with remote cross‑functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure integrated system solutions.
- Conduct virtual design reviews, meticulously document findings, and implement necessary design revisions.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges, ensuring project milestones are met within established timelines and budget constraints.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in mechanical systems design, with a proven track record of leading complex projects.
- Expert proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX) and advanced FEA/CFD simulation tools .
- Deep understanding of system integration, control systems, and mechatronics principles.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a fully remote , agile engineering environment.
- Exceptional problem‑solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely through virtual channels.
