Remote Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Remote Electrical Design Engineer to join their expanding global team. This position is ideal for an experienced professional who excels in designing robust electrical systems and controls from a remote location. You will be instrumental in conceptualizing, developing, and documenting electrical schematics and layouts for a variety of innovative products and industrial applications. This is a fully remote role, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa, emphasizing autonomy, strong communication, and the ability to deliver high-quality engineering solutions independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical schematics, control panels, and wiring diagrams for new systems and equipment using CAD software.
• Select appropriate electrical components, such as motors, sensors, PLCs, and power distribution units, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation for electrical systems.
• Collaborate remotely with project managers, software engineers, and clients to define project requirements and ensure successful implementation.
• Conduct design reviews and implement improvements based on feedback and testing results.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues remotely, providing technical support during system integration and commissioning phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design and systems engineering, preferably in a remote or distributed team environment.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD software (e.g., SOLIDWORKS Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming, industrial automation, and control systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
