Remote Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a talented and experienced Remote Structural Engineer to join their forward-thinking organization. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and assessment of structural components for a wide range of building and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards. This role requires a proactive individual capable of working autonomously, collaborating effectively with virtual teams, and delivering high-quality structural solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for various building types, including commercial, residential, and industrial structures.
• Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations using advanced engineering software.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, project managers, and construction teams via virtual communication channels.
• Ensure designs comply with the National Building Regulations (SANS 10400) and other relevant structural codes.
• Conduct peer reviews of designs and calculations to maintain high standards of accuracy and safety.
• Provide technical support and problem-solving assistance to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in structural engineering design .
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng. or Pr. Tech. Eng.) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, or STAAD. Pro.
• Strong understanding of building materials (steel, concrete, timber) and their behavior under load.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills for a remote work environment.
