Remote Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Remote Structural Engineer to join their innovative engineering team. This role is critical for the design, analysis, and oversight of structural components for a variety of construction projects, conducted entirely from a remote location. You will collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams to ensure the structural integrity, safety, and feasibility of designs. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional analytical skills, a profound understanding of structural principles, and the ability to communicate complex engineering concepts effectively in a virtual environment, supporting projects from our base in Richards Bay .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for new buildings and renovations, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
• Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports using CAD and other relevant software.
• Review project plans and specifications to identify potential structural issues and provide solutions.
• Collaborate with remote architectural and construction teams to integrate structural designs seamlessly.
• Conduct site visits and inspections virtually or as required, ensuring construction adheres to design intent.
• Stay current with advancements in structural engineering materials, technologies, and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural engineering design and analysis.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD. Pro) and CAD software.
• Excellent understanding of building codes (e.g., SANS, Eurocode) and engineering principles.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills for remote collaboration.
