What you’ll be doing in this role

As Canva scales, change is part of our DNA. This role involves working on core video rendering and export features for our iOS app, collaborating with teams to deliver high-quality video experiences, and building scalable mobile architecture aligned with Canva’s strategies.

About the team

The Multimedia Group within Design Experience aims to make multimedia storytelling quick, simple, and fun. This role is in the Video subgroup, working on tools for video editing, compositing, and export across platforms.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining video rendering and export features for iOS
• Collaborating with Video Compositor and Export teams
• Creating seamless, performant video workflows with design and product teams
• Building scalable mobile architecture
• Identifying and solving performance issues
• Fostering a culture of quality and collaboration

Ideal candidate profile:

• Experience building native iOS apps using Swift and Objective-C, with knowledge of Rust, C, C++
• Experience with mobile product development and understanding of Android differences
• Familiarity with multimedia frameworks like AVFoundation or Metal
• Focus on performance, memory management, and clean architecture
• Ability to write reusable, performant UI code with testing
• Experience maintaining and extending features with a focus on user impact
• Problem-solving skills and cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Enthusiasm for enabling millions of users to create content
