About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Ventilation Engineer for a remote-based position, supporting their underground mining operations. This role is crucial for ensuring optimal environmental conditions, including air quality, temperature, and pressure, within the mine. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring ventilation systems to ensure the health and safety of personnel and the efficient operation of the mine. This remote position requires strong technical expertise and the ability to provide effective engineering support from afar.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and optimize mine ventilation systems for underground mines.
  • Conduct airflow and environmental monitoring, and analyze results to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Develop strategies for managing dust, heat, and gases within the mining environment.
  • Specify ventilation equipment, including fans, ducting, and environmental controls.
  • Collaborate remotely with mine operations and safety personnel to address ventilation challenges.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and recommendations for ventilation system improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a specialization in ventilation.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining.
  • Proficiency in mine ventilation simulation software (e.g., Ventsim, Ventsim CADE).
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and air quality principles in mining.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical report writing skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively communicate technical information remotely.
