About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Remote Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to their infrastructure and energy projects across South Africa . This is a fully remote position that allows you to conduct critical site assessments and analyze geotechnical data from your own location. You will play a key role in evaluating ground conditions, foundation designs, and potential geological hazards for a variety of projects, including those in the oil and gas sector. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the stability and safety of our client's developments, providing crucial insights without the need for daily office presence. This role offers the flexibility of remote work combined with impactful engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze geotechnical investigation data , including soil borings, CPTs, and laboratory test results.
• Perform foundation design calculations for various structures, such as pipelines, processing facilities, and offshore platforms.
• Assess seismic hazards and slope stability for project sites.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, providing recommendations for site preparation, foundation design, and construction methods.
• Collaborate remotely with project managers, structural engineers, and site teams to ensure geotechnical requirements are met.
• Review and comment on third-party geotechnical reports and designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including site investigation and analysis.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and design (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and engineering geology principles.
• Experience working with projects in the oil and gas or heavy industrial sectors is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment .
